Tambra Marik, OTR/L, OTD, CHT returns this year to present a new course titled, “Fuel Your Clinical Skills:  Evaluation and Treatment of Peripheral Nerve Compression and Injuries”.   This course will methodically begin with discussion, assessment, and treatment from the brachial plexus to the distal nerves.  Therapeutic interventions presented may be used in your clinic practice on Monday!

Learn a step-by-step approach to examine and treat neuropathic conditions from the brachial plexus to distal nerves.  This course is designed to provide rehabilitation therapists with immediate clinical application for treatment of patients with neuropathic compression pain and injury.  Therapists will be prepared to assess and provide evidence-based techniques for common nerve injuries.   Practical and clinical reasoning skills will be gained to incorporate and progress posture exercises, manual techniques, orthotic management and nerve mobilization based on clinical presentation.

Course Objectives:

  1. Identify common anatomical regions of nerve compression and clinical presentation
  2. Distinguish between proximal and distal nerve injuries
  3. Analyze movement patterns and posture to determine contributing mechanisms of nerve compression
  4. Demonstrate correct procedures and interpretation of clinical tests
  5. Implement elastic taping, manual techniques, mobilizations and exercises into clinical practice for individuals with nerve injury
  6. Identify appropriate orthotic implementation based on case studies and clinical findings
  7. Recognize when clinical treatment progressions are appropriate
