Session Title: Worker's Occupational Therapy International & Local Volunteer Work: A case study.

Session Presenter:Jessica Stott MOTR/L

Description:This workshop will review the experience of an Occupational Therapist who completed 9 months of Occupational therapy work in Nicaragua, and a trip to Cuba under the "Support for the Cuban people" visa. The workshop will include a discussion of the benefits and unforeseen pitfalls of OT volunteer-work, as well as ideas, suggestions, and a general discussion of what the OT perspective can bring to international humanitarian efforts and communities in developing countries. Discussion will also include local volunteer opportunities.



Session Title: Worker's Compensation Insurance - Learn the new enhancements with the Return-to-Work Incentives

Description: No one wants to see a worker go through an occupational injury or illness. When it happens, the first few days after an injury are critical. Returning to work on a light duty capacity can assistant in a quicker recovery and financial support for both the worker and the employer.  Learn the benefits of returning to work quickly and how you can support both the business and the injured worker.  L&I offers financial incentives for employers to support injured workers during recovery with two financial incentive programs: the expanded Preferred Worker Program and the Stay at Work Program.
